Box Score LYNDON CENTER, Vt. – The Lyndon State College women's tennis team continued North Eastern Atlantic Conferenence play Saturday afternoon with a close 6-3 loss to Thomas College at the Dudley Bell Tennis Center.
Lyndon's Carina Alden (Monterey, Mass.) and Nichole Jones (Lisbon Falls, Maine) picked up their first doubles win of the season in the first flight with a close 9-7 victory over Lindsey Allen and Olivia Mora. Amelia Guimond and Mia Navarro took the second flight for Thomas 8-0 over Alexa Richard (Haverhill, Mass.) and Samantha Fisher (Brattleboro, Vt.). The third flight was a tight battle but Terriers Sarah Vigue and Olita Laraway escaped with an 8-7 (7/4) win over Haley Bouley (Holliston, Mass.) and Roze Yar.
Jones evened the score at 2-2 with her second consecutive win at the top spot, scoring 6-2, 7-5 over Allen. Mora then took the second flight 6-0, 6-1 over Alden while Richard topped Guimond 6-0, 6-0 to knot the match at 3-3 with the final three flights to play.
The Terriers took all three as Navarro dispatched Fisher 6-0, 6-0, Maddelyn Butts defeated Bouley 7-6(7/3), 6-0, and Laraway needed three sets to down Achinda 6-0, 4-6, 6-4.
The Hornets (0-6, 0-2 NEAC) host Husson University Sunday at the St. Johnsbury Academy Field House at 9:30 a.m.
The Terriers (2-3, 1-1 NEAC) take on Johnson Sunday at the Stoweflake Resort at 12:00 p.m.
