BENNINGTON, Vt. – Nichole Jones (Lisbon Falls, Maine) and Alexa Richard (Haverhill, Mass.) picked up their first singles wins of the season but the Lyndon State College women's tennis team fell short in a 7-2 loss to MCLA in North East Atlantic Conference play.

MCLA picked up all three doubles starting with Emily Deaso and Mariza Sfakianki taking the top flight 8-3 over Jones and Carina Alden (Monterey, Mass).  Briana Higgins and Sarah Hachadourian bested Richard and Samantha Fisher (Brattleboro, Vt.) 8-3 in the second flight while Samantha Gawron and Anna Despart blanked Phoebe Achinda (Hinesburg, Vt.) and Haley Bouley (Holliston, Mass.) 8-0.

Jones grabbed her win in a tight 8-7 first flight over Sfakianki while Richard topped Despart in the third flight.  Deaso beat Alden in the second flight 8-1 as Fisher, Bouley, and Achinda all fell 8-0 in the final third flights.

The Hornets (0-5, 0-1 NEAC) host Thomas on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
