Box Score NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Lyndon State College men's tennis team took a 9-0 defeat Wednesday night against Norwich University at Shapiro Field House.
Ian Hyte led the Cadets with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Trevor Updike in No. 1 singles and also teamed with Jeff Purdy to win No. 1 doubles 8-4 over Updike and Dominick Agresta.
Jay Carter and Tyler Eagan took No. 2 doubles 8-4 over Michael Sigsbury and Jake LaCerda. Carter topped Agresta 6-4, 6-0 in No. 2 singles as well.
Purdy won No. 3 singles over Sigsbury 6-3, 6-1 while Eagan won No. 4 singles over LaCerda 6-3, 6-1.
Sam Beiter and Hadley Ellis beat the pairing of Kyle Berteau and Josh Pooler 8-2 in No. 3 doubles. In No. 5 singles, Mason Madison topped Berteau 6-0, 6-0 before Beiter took No. 6 singles 8-1 over Pooler in a tiebreaker set after the match was already decided.
The Hornets (1-5, 0-1 NAC) host Colby-Sawyer next Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. for a conference match.
