RUTLAND, Vt. – The Lyndon State College men's tennis team opened up North Atlantic Conference play with a 9-0 loss to Castleton University Saturday afternoon at Grand Slam Tennis in Rutland.

The No. 1 doubles tandem of Seth Marcil and Kevin Rosset took down Jake LaCerda and Trevor Updike 8-3, while the No. 2 doubles duo of Quentin Barthe and Soren Pelz-Walsh also won by an 8-3 margin over Mike Sigsbury and Nick Agresta. Tyler Wilcox and Andrew Overton made it a sweep of doubles with an 8-0 shutout of Ben Park and Josh Pooler at the third spot.

Marcil took first flight singles 6-3, 6-3 over Updike while Rossett topped Agresta 6-0, 6-3 in the second flight.  Pez-Walsh finished 6-0, 6-1 over Sigsbury at No. 3 while Barthe took No. 4 singles over LaCerda 6-1, 6-2.  Overton took the fifth flight over Kalnicki 6-1, 6-1 with Wilcox rounding out the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Pooler.

The Hornets (1-3, 0-1 NAC) take on Thomas College Sunday at Topnotch Resort in Stowe.
