LYNDON CENTER, Vt. – The Lyndon State College men's tennis team continued conference play Sunday afternoon at the Dudley Bell Tennis Center, suffering a 9-0 loss to Castleton University.

Soren Pelz-Walsh and Quentin Barthe teamed up for the Spartans to take No. 1 doubles 8-2 over Trevor Updike and Jake LaCerda.  Seth Marcil and Ryan Mulder took doubles No. 2 by default due to an injury to Michael Sigsbury who was teamed up with Dominick Agresta.  No. 3 doubles saw Tyler Wilcox and Andrew Overton go 12 games in order to gain the 8-4 victory over Derek Kalnicki and Ben Park.

Marcil grabbed a 6-3, 6-0 victory in first flight singles over Updike while Pelz-Walsh won the second flight by default due to Sigsbury not being able to finish the match due to injury.

Barthe cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Agresta in the third flight.  In No. 4 singles, Overton grabbed a quick one set lead, 6-1, but had to go to a tie breaker in the second set, 7-6 (7-5), to get the win.  Mulder and Wilcox rounded out the last two flights with straight-set victories over Kalnicki and Park.

The Hornets (1-8, 0-4) hosts Johnson on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
