Box Score NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – The Lyndon State College men's tennis team traveled to MCLA for a North Eastern Athletic Conference matchup Saturday afternoon, coming up short 7-2.
MCLA took all three doubles matches starting with an 8-0 victory for Aaron Goldsmith and Rob Wabshinak over Trevor Updike and Jake LaCerda in the top slot. Mike Rooney and Rich LaRocque earned an 8-3 win over Michael Sigsbury and Dominick Agresta in the second flight while Jeff Mason and Jared Freeman topped Derek Kalnicki and Ben Park by the same score.
In No. 1 singles, Goldsmith took a tough match over Updike 6-2, 7-6 while Wabshinak earned a 6-2, 6-3 win over Sigsbury in the second flight. Agresta picked up a hard fought win over Rooney 7-5, 7-6 in No. 3 singles while LaCerda grabbed a 6-3, 6-1 win over LaRocque in No. 4 singles.
The last two flights were hard earned victories for MCLA's Mason who took the fifth flight 6-3, 7-5 over Kalnicki and Freeman who topped Park 6-1, 6-4.
The Hornets (1-7, 0-3 NEAC) host Castleton Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
MCLA (2-4, 2-1 NEAC) hosts Thomas College Sunday as well.
