Box Score LYNDON CENTER, Vt. – The Lyndon State College women's tennis team hosted conference opponent MCLA Wednesday afternoon and fell 7-2 to the visitors.
The Hornets dropped all three doubles matches with Emily Deaso and Mariza Sfakianaki beating Christina Boyce (Schaghticoke, N.Y.) and Olivia Bernard (Westmore, Vt.) 8-2, Taylor Turner and Shelby Gauthier defeating Alexa Richard (Haverhill, Mass.) and Carina Alden (New Marlborough, Mass.) 8-3, and Anna Despart and Kylie Dumas pulling out a close victory 8-5 over Stephanie Burke (Claremont, N.H.) and Greta Larson (Williamsville, Vt.).
Deaso earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Boyce in the first flight while Taylor Turner and Mariza Sfakianaki downed Alexandra Maynard (East Hampton, Conn.) and Bernard in the second and third singles flights, 6-3, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-4, respectively.
The Hornets were able to grab victories in the fourth and fifth flights as Nichole Jones (Lisbon Falls, Maine) swept Ashley Juskhas 6-0, 6-0, and Richard defeated Despart 7-6, 6-1.
Dumas picked up a tough fought victory over Alden in the sixth flight 7-6, 6-4.
The Hornets (1-3, 0-1 NAC) travel to Maine this weekend to play Thomas (Sat. 1:00pm) and Husson (Sun. 11:00am).
