STOWE,Vt.- MCLA defeated Lyndon today 6-3 at the Top Notch Tennis Center. The Trailblazers swept all three doubles matches and three in singles to capture the match victory.
Aaron Gold Smith and Rob Wabshinak defeated John Corey (Bennington, Vt.) and Trevor Updike (Newburyport, Mass.) 8-2 in first singles. The duo of Taylor Krowitz and Michael
Rooney beat the tandem of Tyler Hall (Keene, N.H.) and Mike Sigsbury (Pownal, Vt.) 8-6 and lastly third doubles saw Jeff Mason and Tyler Russell defeating Kyle Berteau (Richmond, Vt.) and Dominick Agresta (Barnegat, N.J.) 8-2.
MCLA would take the first three singles matches to earn the win, but Lyndon gained a measure of respectability by taking the fourth, fifth and sixth singles flights.
Hall defeated Rooney in No. 4 singles 6-1, 6-0 and in fifth singles it was Agresta defeating Mason in a tie breaker 4-6, 6-3, 10-5. In sixth singles, Michael Desmond (Enfield, Conn.) defeated Tyler Russell 6-4, 6-3.
Corey would take the loss for the Hornets in first singles losing 6-3, 6-4 to Goldsmith. While in second singles Updike lost to Wabshinak 6-3, 6-2. In the third flight Sigsbury lost to Krowitz 6-3, 6-4.
With the win the Trailblazers improve to 4-5 overall and 2-3 in the North Atlantic Conference. while Lyndon falls to 1-9 overall and 1-4 in the NAC.
The Hornets will host Castleton tomorrow starting at 1p.m. at the Dudley Bell Center.
