HANOVER, N.H. – The Lyndon men's tennis team lost a 9-0 North Atlantic Conference East Division match to reigning champion Colby-Sawyer at the Boss Tennis Center on the campus of Dartmouth College, Saturday afternoon.
Colby-Sawyer improves to 4-8 overall and 1-0 in the NAC while Lyndon falls to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in conference action. The Hornets travel to Rutland on Thursday for a 4 p.m. match with Castleton.
Rico Bailey and Cass McCann teamed for an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles over John Corey (Bennington, Vt.) and Michael Sigsbury (Pownal, Vt.), while Andrew Peloquin and Justin Pinard also won their No. 2 doubles match by an 8-2 score over Dominick Agresta (Barnegat, N.J.) and Trevor Updike (Newburyport, Vt.). The Chargers' third duo of Clay Allen and Ryan Sawyer did not drop a game in an 8-0 defeat of Kyle Burteau (Richmond, Vt.) and Tyler Hall (Keene, N.H.).
Peloquin, Pinard and Allen each won their singles matches 6-0, 6-0. Ross Kenney picked up a straight sets victory 6-0, 6-1 in the fourth slot, while Rico Bailey and Ryan Broderick dropped only a pair of games in their straight set victories at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.
