Box Score LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — The Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts women's tennis team evened its overall record at 3-3 Saturday with an 8-1 match victory over Lyndon at the Dudley Bell Tennis Center.
In doubles play, Sarah Mikutowicz and Sarah Murphy defeated the Hornets' Alexandria Maynard (East Hampton, Conn.) and Nichole Jones (Lisbon Falls, Maine) 8-3 in the first flight before Mariza Sfakianaki and Emily Deaso beat Lyndon's Christina Boyce (Schaghticoke, N.Y ) and Alexa Richard (Haverhill, Mass.) by a score of 8-3 as well.
In No. 3 doubles, the MCLA team of Rebecca Waterhouse and Ama Adwetewa-Badu topped Carina Alden (Marlborough, Mass.) and Stephanie Burke (Claremont, N.H.) 8-3.
In singles competition, Mikutowicz defeated Boyce 6-3, 6-4 in the No. 1 matchup and Murphy took the No. 2 match by besting Maynard 6-1, 6-2. Sfakianaki beat Richard 3-6, 6-0 and 6-1 before Lyndon earned its lone victory on the day when Jones topped Deaso 6-4, 6-3 in No. 4 singles.
Waterhouse beat Alden 6-4, 6-0 in fifth singles, and Adwetewa-Badu defeated Burke 6-4, 6-2 in the sixth flight.
Lyndon (1-3) returns to action on Wednesday when it entertains Plymouth State at 3:30 p.m.
