Box Score RUTLAND, Vt. – Castleton improved to 4-2 on the year with an 8-1 victory over visiting Lyndon Saturday at Grand Slam Tennis.
Castleton dropped just one singles matchup in winning their second straight match. The Spartans won all three doubles matches, including an 8-2 win at No. 3 by Mike Divis and Matt Trombley.
In singles, Mike Glaser set the tone at No. 1 singles taking the first set 6-0 and leading the second set 1-0 before his opponent retired. Kevin Rosset came through with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No.2 and Matt Trombley also won in straight sets at sixth singles, 6-0, 6-1.
Lyndon's lone win of the day came in second flight singles as Trevor Updike (Falmouth, Mass.) bested Adam McCaffrey 6-3, 4-6, 7-6.
