Box Score STOWE, Vt. – Lyndon ran its record to 2-1 overall, and 1-0 in the North Atlantic Conference, with a 7-2 match victory over rival Johnson State Thursday in a match held at the Nopnotch Resort.
Lyndon opened the match with wins in first and second flight doubles. The pairing of John Corey (Bennington, Vt.) and Trevor Updike (Falmouth, Mass.) outhit Johnson's Cole Hennessy and Cory Chase 8-4.
Second flight doubles saw the Hornets' Chas Legge (Essex Junction, Vt.) and Josh Bacon (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) blank the Badgers' number two pairing of Greg Davis and Alex Pakatar by a score of 8-0.
Johnson was awarded a forfeit in No 3 singles as Lyndon was unable to field a sixth player.
Corey started the singles action with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Hennessy. Updike upped the Lyndon lead to 4-1 in singles play with a 6-2, 4-6, 10-4 victory over Chase.
Tyler Hall (Keene, N.H.) sealed the Hornets win away as he ousted Pakatar in third flight singles, 6-3, 6-1. Legge emerged victorious in his match with Davis in the number four slot, winning 6-3, 6-0.
Bacon blanked Baughn 6-0, 6-0 in in fifth singles before Johnson was awarded a forfeit win in sixth singles.
