Box Score SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. — Castleton completes a season series sweep of Lyndon Monday with a 9-0 match victory over the Hornets at the Twin Oaks Tennis Center.
With the win, the Spartans improve to 8-5 overall and 5-2 in the North Atlantic Conference's Eastern Division while Lyndon falls to 5-6 and 3-3.
Only two of three doubles matches were played with the third recorded as a forfeit for Lyndon due to a lack of players. In first doubles, the Castleton duo of Adam McCaffrey and Mike Glaser beat John Corey (Bennington, Vt.) and Trevor Updike (Falmouth, Mass.) 8-4 and the tandem of Kevin Rosset and Kyle Martin beat Tyler Hall (Keene, N.H.) and Josh Bacon (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) 8-2.
In singles action, Glaser beat Corey 8-1 in the first flight and McCaffrey topped Updike 8-1in second singles. Rosset got by Hall 8-5 in No. 3 singles while Martin defeated Bacon 8-3 in fourth singles. Mike Divis beat Michael Desmond (Enfield, Conn.) 8-0 in the fifth flight before the Hornets were forced to forfeit the final singles match of the day.
