Box Score JOHNSON, Vt. – Despite losing two matches by retirement; the Lyndon men's tennis team earned a 7-2 victory over North Atlantic Conference rival Johnson State College Friday. With the win, Lyndon improves to 4-4 on the year and 2-1 NAC. The Badgers drop to 1-10 on the year and 0-5 in the NAC.
The Hornets opened the day with a dominating performance in the three doubles matches, taking all three by scores of 8-2.
The pairing of John Corey (Bennington, Vt.) and Trevor Updike (Falmouth, Mass.) beat Johnson's Cole Hennessy and Cory Chase and the Hornet tandem of Chas Legge (Essex Junction, Vt.) and Josh Bacon (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) topped the Badgers' number two pairing of Harris Shapiro and Matthew Miller.
Lyndon Tyler Hall (Keene, N.H.) and Michael Desmond (Enfield, Conn.) completed the Lyndon sweep in doubles by besting Johnson's Zach Baughn and Alex Harcourt.
Corey's day quickly came to an end in singles action with when he was forced into a retirement loss to Hennessy, but Updike managed to extend the Lyndon lead to 4-1 in second singles with a 6-1, 9-7 victory over Chase.
Hall sealed the Hornets win as he defeated Alex Pakatar in third flight singles 3-6 6-4 and 8-6. Legge was also forced into retirement in his fourth singles match with Shapiro, giving Johnson its second win of the day.
Bacon beat Miller 6-4, 6-1 in fifth flight singles before Desmond recorded a 6-2, 7-5 win in sixth singles.
