SOUTH BURLINGTON - Lyndon swept its season series by defeating Green Mountain College, winning both matches 5-4. However, Lyndon's momentum proved to be short-lived as the Hornets fell 9-0 Sunday to Thomas.
The Hornets made easy work of the Eagles in doubles play, winning all three flights. The duo of John Corey (Bennington, Vt.) and Trevor Updike (Falmouth, Mass.) beat the Eagles Connor Braden and Nate Berner Tobin 8-6. The second duo flight was a tough match of Michael Desmond (Enfield, Conn.) and Tyler Hall (Keene, N.H.) beating Jack Hepburn and Grey McCampbell in a tie breaker 9-8 (7-5). The third duo of Josh Bacon (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) and Chas Legge (Essex Junction, Vt.) beat Andrew Woedman and Forrest Teutsch 8-4.
Green Mountains Connor made easy work of Corey in first ingles winning 6-0, 6-0. Second singles also resulted the Eagles on top with Tobin beating Updike 6-1, 6-0. Third singles was the same as Hepburn defeated Hall 6-1, 6-1. In forth singles the Hornets won a long, hard-fought battle as Legge beat McCampbell 6-1, 6-0. This result won the match for the Hornets. In sixth singles Bacon beat Teutsch 6-3, 6-2.
On Sunday, Thomas came out fast winning all three double matches. Tyler Small and Eric Morin beat Corey and Updike 8-3. Second doubles was the same score with Malcolm Marshall and Caleb Mora beating Desmond and Hall. In third doubles it was closer as Jonte Roussel and Federico Trojillo beat Legge and Bacon 8-6.
Small won first singles beating Corey 6-0, 6-0. Second singles was Morin topping Updike 6-2, 6-1. In third singles it was Marshall beating Hall 6-0, 6-2. In four singles it was Mora coming out with the win, beating Legge 7-6 (7-4) 6-0. In 5th singles it was Roussel beating Desmond 6-2, 6-2. In 6th singles Trojille beating Bacon 6-0 and then he retired with injury.
Lyndon is now 3-4 on the season and 2-1 in the North Atlantic Conference.
