Box Score PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Plymouth State University women's tennis team won its second match in a row Wednesday afternoon, defeating Lyndon State College, 8-1, in a non-conference match at the P.E. Center Courts.
Jane Duggan, Chelsea Thibeault, Nikki Lund and Rachel Gustafson were all double winners as the Panthers improved to 4-2 on the season. Kayla Flynn (Johnston, R.I.) recorded the Hornets' only victory with an impressive 6-0, 6-1 decision at No. 1 singles, but Lyndon State dropped to 3-4 overall.
The Panthers took a 3-0 lead by sweeping the doubles matches. Duggan and Thibeault were easy winners at No. 2, and Gustafson and Peyton Smith were right behind with a win at No. 3. Lund and Nitsa Ioannides completed the doubles sweep for the Panthers with a tiebreaker victory at No. 1, 9-8 (7-2).
Thibeault and Lund clinched the match for PSU with straight-set singles wins at No. 4 and No. 3, respectively. Flynn put the Hornets on the board with her win at No. 1, but PSU closed out the match by winning the final three, Gustafson at No. 5, Rosalie DiRado at No. 6, and Duggan at No. 2.
