NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Lyndon ended its regular season with a 6-3 match victory over the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. The Hornets finish the 2013 season with an overall record of 5-8 while MCLA fell to 1-9 overall.
The MCLA tandem of Taylor Krowitz and Daniel Nesti earned a hard match in first doubles, outlasting the duo of Michael Howard (Rocky Hill, Conn.) and John Corey (Bennington, Vt.) by a score of 9-7. Lyndon responded to grab an early 2-1 lead heading into singles play.
The team of Tyler Schofield (Middleboro, Mass.) and Daniel Weiner (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) beat Mitchell Mabardy and Amory Galili 9-7 before Michael Desmond (Enfield, Conn.) and Chas Legge (Essex Junction, Vt.) took down Ray Yelle and Matt Losavio 8-0 in No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Howard beat Nesti 6-4, 6-2 in first singles and Krowitz earned his second point of the afternoon in the second slot, defeating Schofield in straight sets 6-4, 6-4. Mabardy defeated Corey 6-0, 6-3 in the third singles to knot the match at three, but Weiner toppled Galili 6-1, 6-1 to swing momentum back in Lyndon's favor.
Legge downed Yelle 6-0, 6-0 in fifth singles to seal the victory before Desmond capped a fine sophomore campaign with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Andrea Binder. On the season, Desmond went 5-1 in singles play and 6-5 in doubles.
