WATERVILLE, ME- The Thomas men's tennis team picked up its first victory of the season, defeating Lyndon 7-2 on Saturday at the Harold Alfond Athletic Center.
Eric Morin and Joseph Greco were both able to pick up wins in singles and doubles to help propel Thomas to victory. Caleb Mora , Tyler Small , and Evan Boudreau also picked up wins in singles, while Gershom Renee and Dakota Duplissie also got the win playing number three singles.
The two Hornet wins came from Chas Legge (Essex Junction, Vt.) in singles, while Tyler Hall (Keene, N.H.) and Michael Howard (Rocky Hill, Conn.) picked up a win in doubles.
On Sunday in Gorham, Maine, Christopher Ross earned a solid 6-0, 6-0 win at third singles to highlight a 9-0 sweep by the University of Southern Maine over Lyndon in a non-conference match at the Costello Sports Complex.
The win is the second straight for the Huskies who improve to 2-2 on the season. Lyndon remains winless at 0-4.
Ross downed Daniel Weiner (Port St. Lucie, Fla./The Vanguard School) at third singles without giving up a point as USM swept both the singles and doubles matches. In doubles action, Ross teamed with Thaddeus St. John at first double to earn an 8-2 win over Howard and Hall to pace Southern Maine.
