LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — Lyndon dropped its second straight 5-4 decision in as many days, falling to arch-rival Castleton on the road.
The Hornet duo of Kayla Flynn (Johnston, R.I.) and Maria Parr (Montpelier, Vt.) earned a win in first doubles with an 8-2 victory over Olga McIntyre and Felicia West. In No. 2 double the Spartan team of Chelsea Crehan and Meghan Susslin bested Olivia Bernard (Westmore, Vt.) and Kelsey Johnson (White River Junction, Vt.) 8-3 before teammates Lauren Fedorka and Sara Novenstern walked off with an 8-4 win over Lyndon's Alexandria Maynard (East Hampton, Conn.) and Margaret George (Glover, Vt.) in the third flight.
In singles play, Flynn topped McIntyre 6-1, 6-2 in No. 1 singles while Johnson defeated West in three sets 3-6, 7-5 and 6-2. In third flight singles, Parr beat Fedorka in straight sets 7-5, 6-0 and Crehan earned the Spartans' third win of the day - a 6-1, 6-0 win over Bernard in No. 4 singles.
Susslin grabbed the host's fourth win in fifth flight singles, topping George 6-3, 6-0, and Novenstern sealed the Castleton win by bringing home the final victory of the day, a 6-1, 6-2 decision over Kelly Butler (Hubbardston, Mass.) in No. 6 singles.
