Johnson downs Lyndon

LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — Johnson State ran its overall record to 2-5 Saturday with an 8-1 win over Lyndon in North Atlantic Conference men's tennis action at the Dudley Bell Tennis Center.
 
In first doubles, the Badger team of Ryan Joy and Chance Swafford defeated Armando D 'Leon (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) and Tyler Schofield (Middleboro, Mass.) 8-3 before teammates Alen Turan and Kyle Young topped John Corey (Bennington, Vt.) and Dan Weiner (Wells, Maine) 8-4 in second doubles. In the third flight of doubles play, James Dempsey and Ben Algar bested Mike Desmond (Enfield, Conn.) and Joe Anderson (Norton, Mass.) to pull off the sweep for Johnson.

In singles play, Joy earned a 6-1, 6-2 win over D 'Leon in No.1 singles and Swafford got by Schofield 7-5, 6-4 in the No. 2 matchup. Turan beat Corey 6-0, 6-0 in third singles and Young topped Weiner 6-4, 6-4 in fourth singles. Desmond recorded the lone win for Lyndon on the day with a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Peter Leblanc and Algar defeated Wildens Fils (Stamford, Conn.) 6-0, 6-1 in No. 6 singles.
