RUTLAND, Vt. – The Lyndon men's tennis team swept its season series with Green Mountain by recording an 8-1 North Atlantic Conference victory at the Vermont Sports and Fitness Club.
In singles action, Lyndon's Michael Howard (Rocky Hill, Conn.) picked up a 6-0, 6-3 victory over the Eagle's Sam Dixon in the No.1 matchup before Tyler Schofield (Middleboro, Mass.) won a hard-fought 7-6, 7-6 decision over Christopher Donovan in No. 2 singles.
Samantha Tarjirian defeated Jeremiah Powell (Concord, Vt.) 7-6, 4-6, 6-1 for the lone Green Mountain win of the day and the Lyndon tandem of Paul Thibault (Westfield, Mass.) and Daniel Weiner (Wells, Maine) earned victories over Laura McRee (6-0, 6-2) and Nicole Cardish (6-0, 6-0) in fourth and fifth singles, respectively. Jonatha Lehane (Killingworth, Conn.) won the No. 6 singles match for the Hornets by topping Duong Vo 6-2, 6-1.
In doubles action, the No. 1 team of Howard and Schofield beat Dixon and Tarjirian 9-7, while Powell and Thibault took the No.2 doubles matchup by a score of 9-8 over Donovan and McRee. In No. 3 doubles, the tandem of Jenness and Daniel Weiner (Wells, Maine) topped Cardish and Vo 8-1.
