LYNDON CENTER, Vt. – The Lyndon men's tennis team won its first match of the season with a 9-0 North Atlantic Conference victory over Green Mountain at Norwich University's Shapiro Fieldhouse.
In singles action, Lyndon's Michael Howard (Rocky Hill, Conn.) picked up a 6-4, 6-0 victory over the Eagle's Sam Dixon in the No.1 matchup before Tyler Schofield (Middleboro, Mass.) defeated Christopher Donovan 6-2, 6-1 in No. 2 singles. Jeremiah Powell (Concord, Vt.) and Paul Thibault (Westfield, Mass.) both earned wins for LSC in the No. 3 and No. 4 matches with victories over Samantha Tarjirian (6-1, 6-3) and Nicole Cardish (6-0, 6-0), respectively.
The Hornets' Jonathan Lehane (Killingworth, Conn.) won his No. 5 tennis match with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Tsering Sherpa and in the No. 6 singles match of the day, LSC's Donald Jenness(Newport, Vt.) won a hard-fought 6-3, 1-6, 11-9 decision over Duong Vo.
In doubles action, the No. 1 team of Howard and Schofield beat Dixon and Tarjirian 8-3, while Powell and Thibault took the No.2 doubles matchup by a score of 8-1 over Donovan and Cardish. In No. 3 doubles, the tandem of Jenness and Daniel Weiner (Wells, Maine) topped Sherpa and Vo 8-0.
