LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — The Lyndon women's tennis team
opened its 2010 season on a down note, droppding a 9-0
non-conference decision to Plattsburgh State at the Dudley Bell
Tennis Center.
In No. 1 singles, the Cardinals' Rachel Hodnett defeated Jenn Falsetti (Albany, N.Y.) 6-0, 6-0 before teammate Jessica Paquette
earned a 6-2, 6-3 win over Maria Parr (Montpelier, Vt.) in second
singles. In third singles, Plattsburgh's Kristen Casse beat Kelsey Johnson (White River junction, Vt.) 6-3, 6-1 and Meghan Ryan won
the fourth singles matchup by besting Lyndon's Amber Hartman
(Readsboro, Vt.) 6-0, 6-3.
Samantha Fasciano (6-0, 6-0) and Caitlin Belladone (6-2, 6-1)
rounded out the shutout in singles play with a wins over Margaret George (Glover, Vt.) and Kaitlin Cunningham (South Stratford, Vt.),
respectively.
In doubles action, Hodnett and Paquette teamed up for a clean
8-0 win in first doubles over Parr and Johnson. The tandem of Amy
Rich and Fasciano followed with an 8-0 win over Falsetti and George
before Jen Paull and Belladone closed out doubles play with an 8-2
victory over Cunningham and Erin Donnelly (Franklin, Maine).
