LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — The Lyndon women's
tennis team two match-winning streak came to an end when
it dropped a 7-2 decision to Castleton.
In No. 1 singles, the Spartans' Michelle Podnecky beat Jenn
Falsetti (Albany, N.Y.) 6-1, 6-2 and Brittni Racine won the
fourth singles matchup by besting Lyndon's Amber
Hartman (Readsboro, Vt.) 6-0, 6-1.
Lyndon's Kalya Flynn (Johnston, R.I.) and Maria Parr
(Montpelier, Vt.) earned wins in second (7-6, 2-6, 10-8) and
third (6-2, 6-0) singles by beating Kate Bucci and Marina Francy,
respectively.
Castleton's Chelsea Crehan topped Kelsey
Johnson (White River Junction, Vt.) 6-0, 6-1 in No. 5 singles
and Kristen McGinn recorded a 6-1, 6-0 win over the Hornets' Erin
Donnelly (Franklin, Maine) in sixth singles.
In doubles action, Podnecky and Bucci teamed up for a 8-4
win in first doubles over Parr and Falsetti. The tandem of Racine
and Crehan followed with an 8-6 win over Flynn
and Johnson before McGinn and Alyssa Panasci closed
out doubles play with an 8-0 victory over Hartman and Margaret
George (Glover, Vt.).
