In the semifinal round, top-seed
Castleton earned a 9-0 win over fourth-seed Green Mountain, and
second seeded Lyndon State likewise advanced to the final round by
way of a 9-0 shutout over third-seed Johnson State.
Castleton took a 2-1 lead after
the doubles portion of the match, earning wins in No. 2 and No. 3
doubles from the teams of Justin Garritt/Eric Slosek and Kevin
Eisenberg/Corey Kimball 8-1 and 8-0 respectively. Lyndon State took
the No 1. doubles match, as Teddy
Fournier (Enfield, Conn.) and Mike
Howard (Rocky Hill, Conn.) teamed to picked up an 8-2
victory.
Fournier earned a 6-0, 6-2 win in
No. 1 singles, but Castleton earn wins in No 2., No.3 and No 4.
singles to solidify the win. Garritt earned a 6-4, 6-1 win in No. 2
single and Eisenberg earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory in No. 3 singles.
Greg Klopfer emerged victorious from a marathon three-setter, 6-4,
3-6, 6-2 in No. 4 singles. Tyler
Schofield (Middleboro, Mass.) earned a 6-2, 6-2 win in
No. 5 singles for Lyndon State, before Corey Kimball won 6-1,
7-6
(7-5) in No 6. singles.
