CASTLETON, Vt.
— The Lyndon State College Men's Tennis team
swept Green Mountain College 9-0 on Friday in a home match played
at Castleton State College. With the win, the Hornets improve their
record to 6-4 overall, and 6-2 within the North Atlantic
Conference.
In No. 1 singles, Brad Darby (Sanford, Maine) defeated Sam Dixon 6-1, 6-1 while
teammate Matt Lentes (Holyoke, Mass.) topped Jon
Schechner 6-1, 6-1in No. 2 singles. Darby and Lentes teamed to beat
Dixon and Christin Louras 8-5 in No. 1 doubles play.
Tyler Schofield
(Middleboro, Mass.) remained undefeated on the season with a 6-1,
6-2 victory over Kyle O'Boyle in No. 3 singles. In No. 4
singles Jeremiah Powell (Concord, Vt.) earned a
6-2, 6-1 win over Andrew Serow. Schofield and Powell beat
O'Boyle and Schechner 8-3 in No. 2 doubles.
In No. 5 singles, Paul Thibault (Westfield, Mass.) topped Louras 6-3, 6-3 while
Jimmy Gaskell (Washington, N.H.) earned a 6-1, 6-2
victory over Andrew Kohler in No. 6 singles. Thibault and Gaskell
defeated Serow and Kohler 8-4 in doubles competition.
