- Lyndon State's losing streak reached three matches with
a 6-3 loss to in-state rival Norwich at the Dudley Bell Tennis
Center.
In No. 1 doubles, the team of
Collin Hyte and Fritz Kaelber topped Lyndon's Teddy Fournier (Enfield, Conn.) and Mike Howard
(Rocky Hill, Conn.) by a score of 8-5. The Hornets evened the score
at 1-1 in No. 2 doubles as Brad Darby (Sanford,
Maine) and Matt Lentes (Holyoke, Mass.) recorded a
hard-fought 10-8 (7-1) victory over Logan O'Neill and Graham
Oliveira. The Cadets took the lead for good in No. 3 doubles as
Travis Tyler and Chris Pashley defeated Tyler Schofield (Middleboro, Mass.) and Jeremiah Powell (Concord, Vt.) 8-2.
In singles action, Hyte defeated
Fournier 6-4, 7-5 in the No. 1 matchup while Kaelber (6-3, 6-3) and
O'Neill (7-5. 6-3) beat Howard and Darby in the second and third
flites, respectively. Lentes grabbed the first Lyndon win in
singles on the day with a 6-4, 6-2 decision over Oliveira before
Schofield battled back from a one-set deficit to earn a 0-6, 6-4,
7-5 victory over Tyler. Norwich's Alex Gordon closed out singles
play with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Jimmy Gaskell
(Washington, N.H.).
