NORTHFIELD, Vt. -
The Lyndon State men's tennis team dropped a second consecutive
match with a 6-3 loss to arch-rival Castleton 7-2 at Norwich
University's Shapiro Fieldhouse.
Lyndon's only wins of the match
came when Teddy Fournier (Enfield, Conn.) beat Sam
Levine in No. 1 singles 6-4, 6-1 before teaming with Mike Howard (Rocky Hill, Conn.) to top Levine and Greg Klopfer
8-4 in No 1. doubles. Tyler Schofield's hard-fought 6-4, 7-5 win
over Castleton's Eric Slosek accounted for the Hornets' third
victory of the day.
After dropping first doubles,
Slosek and Justin Garret took second doubles 8-2 over Brad Darby (Sanford, Maine) and Matt Lentes
(Holyoke, Mass.), and the team of Kevin Eisenberg and Corey Kimball
likewise won 8-2 in third doubles over Schofield and
Jeremiah Powell (Concord, Vt.).
In singles action, Garritt earned
a win in second flite (6-2, 6-4) over Howard while Eisenberg won
third (6-1, 6-1) topping Darby. Klopfer recorded a 6-2, 6-4 win in
fourth singles, while Corey Kimball battled to a 6-3, 6-2 win in
No. 6 singles at the expense of Powell.
