WATERVILLE, Maine
- The Lyndon State men's tennis team earned its
first victory of the season with an 8-1 North Atlantic Conference
win over Thomas College.
In singles competition, Lyndon's
Teddy Fournier (Enfield, Conn.) defeated Jeremy
Cliff 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 1 matchup and the Terriers' Andre Giguere
beat the Hornets' Mike Howard (Rocky Hill, Conn.)
took the No. 2 match by a score of 6-4, 6-2. The Hornets'
Matt Lentes (Holyoke, Mass.) topped Andrew Folan
6-2, 6-1 in No. 3 singles.
In No. 4 singles, LSC's
Paul Thibault (Westfield, Mass.) beat Michael
Kunkle 6-1, 6-1, while teammate Jeremiah Powell
(Concord, Vt.) won a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 decision over Andrew Watt in No.
5 singles. Tyler Schofield (Middleboro, Mass.)
closed out the singles matches by defeating Mike Morris 6-0, 6-3 in
No. 6 singles.
In doubles play, Fournier and
Howard defeated Cliff and Giguere 8-5; Lentes and Thibault beat
Folan and Watt 8-3; and the team of Powell and Schofield topped
Kunkle and Morris 8-1.
