RUTLAND, Vt. -
The Lyndon State men's tennis team dropped its first match of the
season when they were defeated arch-rival Castleton 7-2 in the
opener of the North Atlantic
Conference schedule.
Lyndon's only two wins of the
match came when Teddy Fournier (Enfield, Conn.)
beat Sam Levine in No. 1 singles 6-2, 6-2 before teaming with
Mike Howard (Rocky Hill, Conn.) to top Levine and Greg
Klopfer 8-2 in No 1. doubles.
After dropping first doubles,
Castleton's Justin Garritt and Eric Slosek took second doubles 8-2,
and the team of Kevin Eisenberg and Corey Kimball likewise
won 8-2 in third doubles.
In singles action, Castleton swept
second through sixth in the win. Garritt earned the win in second
flite (6-3, 7-5) while Eisenberg won third (6-2, 6-4). Greg
Klopfer swept his way to a win in
fourth, while Slosek battled to a 2-6, 7-6 (15-13), 6-4 win in
fifth flite. Kimball wrapped up the singles competition with a
2-6, 6-4, 6-3 win.
