Box Score CASTLETON, Vt. - Courtney Chadburn scored a
pair of goals to lead the Castleton State College women's soccer
team over Lyndon 4-0 in North Atlantic Conference action at Spartan
Stadium.
Chadburn got the scoring started at 15:35 bending a shot into
the top right corner of the net past Lyndon goaltender Samantha
Smith (North
Haverhill, N.H.) for a 1-0 lead. Megan Blongy made it 2-0 at 24:18
receiving a pass into the box from teammate Kelsey Garceau and
chipped it over Smith for her 11th goal of the season.
Just one minute and 13 seconds later, Garceau collected her
second tally of the season drilling home a rebound into the back of
the net for a 3-0 advantage. Blongy was credited with an assist on
the tally. Chadburn netted her 11th goal of the season and fourth
marker in the first half for Castleton at 29:22 knocking home a
loose ball in the box to make it 4-0.
In the 55th minute, Spartans' goaltender Ericka Davis preserved
the shutout, her third of the season, robbing Samantha
Bergeron (Milton, Vt.) of a breakaway bid to keep the score at
4-0. Davis made two stops in net while Smith turned away 14 shots
in goal for Lyndon. The Spartans outshot Lyndon 44-2 and won the
corners match-up 8-1.
