Box Score LYNDON CENTER, Vt. – Shauna Buck (Newport
Center, Vt.) fired home four goals, and Samantha Bergeron (Milton, Vt.) handed out three assists, to lead
the Lyndon State College women's soccer team to an 8-0 win
over Southern Maine Community College.
Jesi Amsden (Orwell, Vt.) staked to Lady
Hornets to a 1-0 lead at halftime, and Ashley Phelps (Lyndonville, Vt.) upped the lead to 2-0 less than
three minutes into the second half. Buck sandwiched a pair of goals
around a converted penalty kick by Kathy Kline
(Coventry, R.I.) and the rout was on. Bergeron closed out the
scoring in the contest at 78:12 off an assist from Amsden.
Preslee Jacobs (Derby, Vt.) had two assists for
the winners and Kline had one. Natalia Shams
(Swampscott, Mass.), who was credited with the win, made no saves
in the game and Samantha Smith (North Haverhill,
N.H.), who relieved Shams at halftime, made one save for Lyndon.
SMCC keeper Kellie Melancon had seven saves in the loss. The Lady
Hornets outshot the Seawolves 30-5 in the game.
