Box Score LYNDON CENTER, Vt. – St. Michael's
ran its record to 3-0 on the season with a 4-1 victory over Lyndon
State College in the Hornets' home opener.
Andrew Scanlon gave the Purple Knights a 1-0 lead 31:39 into the
first half with an unassisted tally, but Lyndon managed to battle
back and knot the score at 1-1 on a goal by Anthony Dana (Springfield, Vt.). Tyler Bullard
(North Hyde Park, Vt.) and P.J. Danforth (Concord,
Vt.) were credited with assists on the play.
St. Mike's regained the lead in the waning moments of the
first half when Nick Colangelo, who had just checked into the game,
found the back of the net behind LSC goalkeeper Ian Oliver (Westport, Mass.). Colangelo goal was
unassisted.
The Purple knights upped the lead to 3-1 at the five-minute mark
of the second half when Jared Berry scored unassisted. Blake Schill
closed out the scoring for St. Michael's by converting a
penalty kick with 15:40 remaining in the contest.
Jason Burnett made one save in the contest to get the win before
passing the goalkeeping duties on to Logan Kingman, who played the
final eight minutes of the game. Oliver made 11 saves for the
Hornets, who were out shot by a margin of 34-2.
