Waterville, ME - Vermont State University Lyndon women's soccer player Kaitlyn Frydenlund (Westminster, CO) has been named North Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week for the week ending September 6th, as announced by the conference on Tuesday.  Frydenlund is believed to be the first Lyndon women's soccer player to be named NAC Rookie of the Week since the Hornets joined the conference in 2008.  She is the first Hornet to garner NAC weekly honors of any kind since Emily Strese was named Player of the Week in October of 2012.

Frydenlund, a junior playing her first season of college soccer, scored three goals in leading Lyndon past Vermont State University Randolph on Saturday afternoon.  Her first goal came early on, as she took a pass from Kailee Dohrman (Buffalo, NY) and fired a shot from right in front of the goal into the back of the net in the eighth minute.  In the 35th minute, she redirected a ball from Phoebe Crocker (Danville, NY) into the net.  Then in the 67th minute, she completed her hat trick and capped off the 4-0 Lyndon win when she converted a cross from Dohrman.

Frydenlund's three goals were the most in a game by a Lyndon player since Riann Fortin tallied three times against Vermont Technical College in October of 2021.  It was also only the eighth hat trick since the Hornets joined the NAC and rejoined NCAA Division III in 2008.

Frydenlund and the Hornets will return to the pitch on Wednesday afternoon when they travel to New England College for a 3:00 pm kickoff.
