Utica, NY - A day after running in beautiful spring conditions, the Vermont State University Lyndon men's cross country team found themselves on the opposite end of the weather spectrum on Sunday morning. The Hornets battled snow, rain, and cold temperatures as they wrapped up their weekend of competition with a pair of dual races against the State University of New York Polytechnic Institute and Utica University.. Lyndon was bested by Poly, 18-40, and by Utica, 15-50.
Ethan Cardenas (Tracy, CA) was the first Hornet to cross the finish line, completing the 5K course in 25:12. Gregory Gonyea Jr. (Dolgeville, NY) was next, finishing in 27:36. Alex Leslie (Dalton, NH), Owen Traynor (Rutland, VT), and Xavier Rainwater (Frisco, TX) were the other scoring runners for Lyndon.
Hornet cross country coach Chris Chichester was proud of how his runners competed in the elements. "In brutal cold and snow the men battled like the warriors they are, refusing to back down and left everything on that course."
