Lyndonville, VT - Three Vermont State University Lyndon tennis players, two men and one woman, have been named to the 2023-24 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, as announced on Tuesday.
The student athletes honored include:
- Jeffrey Blais (Newport, VT), is a junior Business Administration major with a 3.76 grade point average. Blais was Lyndon's first singles player this season, as well as half of the Hornets' first doubles team. He posted a 7-5 record in singles, including a 6-2 mark in North Atlantic Conference play. He was also 7-5 overall and 6-2 in doubles play.
- David Gratton (Newport, VT), is a sophomore Business Administration major with a 3.90 GPA. Gratton was Lyndon's Most Valuable Player for the recently completed season. He played second singles in each match this season, and primarily teamed with Blais at first doubles. He was 7-5 overall and 6-2 in conference in singles play, and 7-4 overall and 6-2 in conference teaming with Blais at first doubles. He also played one match at second doubles.
- Maachah Krull (Colebrook, NH), is a sophomore Childhood Education major with a 3.58 GPA. Krull was Lyndon's Most Valuable Player for this past season. She split her time between first and second singles, compiling a 2-8 overall record, including a 2-4 mark in the second flight. She was the only Hornet to earn more than one singles win. In addition, she played first doubles in nine of ten matches.
The 2023-24 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Tennis Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (formerly College Sports Information Directors of America - CoSIDA), recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
The top Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 4 (women) and June 5 (men).
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
