Waterville, ME - Northern Vermont University-Lyndon junior goalkeeper Brett Roy (Newport, VT) was named the North Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending October 23rd, as announced by the conference office on Monday. Roy is the first NVU-Lyndon men's soccer player to receive a weekly honor form the NAC since Abukar Hassan was named Player of the Week in September of 2016. He is also believed to be the first Hornet ever to receive Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Roy was spectacular in Lyndon's to a 1-0 victory over the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Saturday afternoon, the first NAC victory for Lyndon since 2018. He made 14 saves, including saving a potentially game tying penalty kick, to lead the Hornets to a win in a game where they were outshot, 44-4. Earlier in the week, Roy made five saves in a non-conference game at Northern Vermont University-Johnson.
Roy has 102 saves in 11 games played this season and averages 9.27 saves per game, He leads the conference and is among the national leaders in NCAA Division III soccer in both categories.

Roy and the Hornets will close out their 2022 season on Tuesday afternoon when they host Plymouth State University at 3:00 pm.
