Hornet men overwhelmed at New England College

Box Score

Henniker, NH - New England College turned 35 Northern Vermont University-Lyndon turnovers into 55 points on the way to a 116-75 victory over the Hornets in Saturday's non-conference men's basketball game.  The Pilgrims improve to 7-4 with the win while the Hornets drop to 4-7 on the season.

The Hornets scored the first four points of the contest on an administrative technical foul free throw and a three pointer from Timothy Hoar (Shelburne Falls, MA).  NEC responded with a 17-0 run over the next five minutes to take control, and the hosts never looked back from there.

Izaiah Winston-Brooks led NEC with 25 points while Jamal Allen and Larry McKinney chipped in 16 points apiece.  Calvin Cheek grabbed six rebounds and recorded seven steals for the Pilgrims.

Antonio Carlisle (St. Johnsbury, VT) paced the Hornets with 13 points in his first collegiate game.  Hoar and Bryan Thompson (New Britain, CT) also hit double figures with 11 points apiece.  Damon Denteh (Jamaica, NY) grabbed six rebounds and dished out five assists for the Hornets.

The Hornets will return to action on Tuesday afternoon when they host SUNY Delhi in another non-conference matchup.  Tip-off is set for 2:00 pm in Stannard Gymnasium.
