Hornet women drop NAC opener at Husson

Bangor, ME - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon women's basketball team jumped out to a seven point lead after one quarter in their North Atlantic Conference opener at Husson University.  The Hornets were unable to sustain things, however, as the host Eagles took control of the game in the second quarter, then pulled away in the second half for a 61-40 victory.  The Eagles improve to 2-4 overall on the season while the Hornets fall to 1-5.  The game was the first in conference for both teams.

The Hornets were victimized by cold shooting, as they only converted 15 of their 55 (27.6%) field goal attempts, while the Eagles made 26 of theri 64 (40.6%) attempts.  Both teams pulled down 41 rebounds, but the Eagles forced 25 Hornet turnovers while only committing 21 themselves.

Bailey Donovan came off the bench to lead Husson with 12 points and eight rebounds.  Sydney Allen added ten points for Husson.  Alissa Mitchell (Milton, NH) was Lyndon's only double figure scorer, finishing with 11 points, eight rebounds, and three steals.

The Hornets conclude their weekend trip to Maine on Sunday afternoon with another NAC contest, this one at Maine Maritime Academy.  Tip-off is set for 12:00 noon.
