Lyndonville, VT - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon men's basketball team was within four points of North Atlantic Conference leading University of Maine at Farmington at halftime of Friday's conference tilt.  The Hornets went ice cold in the second half, however, and fell to the Beavers, 97-61.  UMaine-Farmington improves to 8-4 overall on the season, and remains unbeaten in five NAC contests.  Lyndon falls to 2-13 and remains winless in five conference starts.

After UMF jumped out to an early 10-4 advantage, the Hornets rallied and took their first lead on a Zach Falkenburg (Kirkville, NY) jumper with 5:42 to go in the session.  With the Hornets still holding a one-ponint advantage, the Beavers went on a 12-2 run to open up a nine point lead before a pair of Jahleel Gabriel (Springfield, MA) free throws and a Damon Denteh (Jamaica, NY) three-pointer made it 41-37 at the break.

The Beavers opened the second half on a 23-2 run to take control of the game, as the Hornets converted only five of 30 shots in the second half.  Bill Ruby posted a double double with 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Beavers.  Milani Hicks  added 17, while Isaac Witham and Amir Moss both hit double figules with 11 and ten points respectively.  Luke Fredsell (Whitesboro, NY) led the Hornets with 14 points.  Gabriel and Denteh tallied ten apiece.

The Hornets return to action tomorrow afternoon when they host Thomas College in another NAC contest.  Tip-off is 1:00 pm in Stannard Gymnasium.
