LYNDON CENTER, Vt. – The Lyndon State College women's basketball team dropped an 80-62 North Atlantic Conference matchup with Castleton University Thursday evening in Stannard Gymnasium.

Castleton was led by Amanda Beatty (Williston, Vt.) with 21 points and six rebounds while Alexis Quenneville (Fair Haven, Vt.) drained 18 points.

Castleton jumped on a 6-1 lead forcing a Lyndon timeout.  Back-to-back baskets tied the game, but five straight put Castleton ahead 11-6 at 4:11.  Foy narrowed it to three off of a pair of free-throws, but Castleton would extend the lead to 22-10 at the end of the first.

Beatty started the second quarter with a three-point play to put it at 25-10.  After swapped baskets, Castleton went on a 12-0 run extending the score to 41-16.  Lyndon had a 9-0 run of their own to finish out the quarter, trailing 41-25 at the end of the second.

Lyndon's Mikayla Hodge (Newbury, Vt.) started the second half with a three-point play.  On the next possession, Alissa Mitchell (Milton, N.H.) drove the lane, throwing in a floater to bring it within eleven at 41-30 during the first minute of play.  However, eleven straight from Castleton extended it back to 52-30.  Ramos and Victoria Carlson (East Haven, Conn.) worked the court and brought Lyndon within fourteen at the 2:47 mark; however, Castleton would extend the lead once again leaving it 61-40 at the end of the third.

Ramos knocked in the first seven points for Lyndon while Castleton's Quenneville drained a trey to push the score to 64-47.  After exchanging multiple free throws and baskets, the score was 74-56 with 4:44 left.  The teams continued to trade points until the end with Castleton taking the 80-62 victory.
