Box Score BANGOR, Maine – After a long bus ride through the snow, the Lyndon State College men's basketball team fell to Husson University 77-65 Friday night.
Lyndon started the night off strong, gaining a nine point advantage with 7:37 left in the first half. The Hornets carried that lead until the 3:57 mark when Mitch Worcester hit a lone free throw and two back-to-back threes after Hornet turnovers to cut the Hornet lead to one. Trevon Butler knocked down two free throws with a minute and a half left in the first and Raheem Anderson knocked down a three to take a four point lead into the break.
The Eagles went on a 22-8 run to start the second frame, building on their pre-halftime lead to 53-35.
The hosts pushed their lead to 22 with 6:30 to play before the Hornets fought back to cut the final lead to 12 at 77-65.
The Hornets were led by Shaun Hill (Providence, R.I.) who record 14 points and eight rebounds. Ty Roane (Bend, Ore.) chipped in 13 points off the bench.
Trevon Butler led the Eagle charge, scoring 20 points while Raheem Anderson added 13. Darryl Wood and Tyler Norris recorded 11 points apiece.
Four Eagles finished in double digits including Butler, Raheem Anderson, Darryl Wood and Tyler Norris, who all hit key shots during important stretches in the second half. Wood garnished seven total rebounds on the night and added two blocks to his statline.
The Hornets (7-12, 5-8 NAC) head to Maine Maritime Academy tomorrow for a 3:00 p.m. tip while the Eagles (16-4, 12-1 NAC) host Johnson State at 3:00 p.m. as well.
