Box Score LYNDON CENTER, Vt. – The Lyndon State College men's basketball team finished out the regular season with a 92-88 loss to Green Mountain College Saturday afternoon in Stannard Gymnasium.
The Hornets were led by Shaun Hill with 18 points and five rebounds. Freshman Ty Roane knocked down three treys, finishing with 11 points, three rebounds, and two assists. Dustin Simpson-Bragg recorded 12 points and three rebounds in just five minutes of play. Dawda Jallow rounded out the Hornets scoring in double figures with 11 points and four rebounds.
Thomas Brown and Mychal Parker led all scorers with 21 points apiece with Brown pulling down eight rebounds and Parker adding nine rebounds, five assists, four steals, and three blocks. Cameron Anderson added 18 points and nine rebounds.
Kicking off Senior Day, senior Howard Lyles knocked down a three-pointer for the Hornets just eight seconds into the game to start the scoring. For the next 10 minutes the lead went back and forth until the Hornets went on a 6-0 run to grab a 26-20 lead, the largest lead either team had seen thus far. The Eagles fought back with five consecutive points but the Hornets would keep a slim lead until Anderson's dunk with 30 seconds left in the half tied up the game, sending the game into halftime 37-37.
The second half began with the teams exchanging buckets until an 11-0 run from the Eagles gave them a 74-60 lead with six minutes to play. The Eagles kept a double digit lead until Simpson-Bragg tipped in a missed layup to bring the score to 83-74. After two made free throws from Anderson, the Hornets went on a 14-7 run but were unable to catch the visitors before the final horn.
With the win Green Mountain finishes the season 21-4 overall.
Lyndon finishes the season 10-14 overall and 8-10 in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC). The Hornets have earned the sixth seed in the NAC tournament and will travel to play third-seeded Johnson State College Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m.
