Waterville, ME - Vermont State University Lyndon men's basketball players Gregory Gonyea Jr. (Dolgeville, NY) and Tyler Dias (Woonsocket, RI) were among those honored by the North Atlantic Conference when the conference announced its postseason awards on Wednesday. NAC coaches voted Gonyea to the All-Conference 1st Team for the second year an a row, while Dias was named to the Sportsmanship Team.
Gonyea, a graduate student working toward his Master of Business Administration degree, was also a 1st Team All-conference selection in 2024-25. This past season he averaged 20.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 2.2 steals per game. He shot 49.3% from the field, 34.9% from behind the three point arc, and 80.3% from the free throw line. He ranked among the conference leaders in scoring (3rd), steals (5th), free throws made (2nd), free throw percentage (4th), field goals made (8th), and field goal percentage (9th). In conference games only his scoring average increased to 22.3 points per game. He was a multi-time NAC Player of the Week and Honor Roll selection. Gonyea finished his Hornet career with 1,551 points scored, the most by a Lyndon player in the modern (2008-present) Division III era. He is the first and only player in program history to be named NAC 1st Team All-Conference in multiple seasons.
Dias, a sophomore Business Administration major, saw action in 11 games this season, his second with the Hornets. He is one of the men's basketball program's representatives to the Lyndon Student Athlete Advisory Committee, and serves as SAAC Vice President. Sportsmanship Team honorees were selected for consistently demonstrating the tenets of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. They positively influenced the basketball culture and game environment by exemplifying integrity beyond the rules and etiquette of the game.
Gonyea will be completing his MBA this spring and summer, while Dias is expected to return next year for his junior season. Lyndon finished the 2025-26 season with a 7-18 overall record and a 5-13 mark in NAC play.
