Box Score NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Lyndon State College Men's Basketball team traveled to Colby-Sawyer, leaving with a 78-64 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) loss on Tuesday night.
Lyndon drops to 6-7 overall and 4-5 in conference play. The Hornets will begin a five game home stand on Thursday against Pine Manor with a 7:30 p.m. tilt.
Colby-Sawyer improves to 10-4 overall and 6-2 in the NAC. The Chargers will head to Maine this weekend for games at Thomas and UMaine-Farmington on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
Lyndon had 12 different players in the scoring column led by a 10-point effort from Eric Vargas (Lowell, Mass.). Dawda Jallow (Allen, Texas) had team-highs of eight rebounds and five blocks. Gabriel Torres (Woodland, Calif.) added nine points in 16 minutes off the bench.
Peter Donato (Portland, Maine) had a game-high 19 points and five blocks. Wol Majong (Manchester, N.H.) and Jake Maynard (Shelburne, Vt.) had 16 points apiece, while Jourdain Bell (Manchester, N.H.) scored 15 points in his second game of the season.
Colby-Sawyer took an 8-2 lead after a Bell jumper just over three minutes into the game. Lyndon cut the deficit to three on a couple of occasions over the next two minutes but could not get any closer. The Chargers used a 23-6 run in the span of 9:17 to take their biggest lead of the half at 35-15. The Hornets came within 11 after an Alexis Ravello (Lowell, Mass.) layup, but Colby-Sawyer would take a 42-28 lead into the break.
The Chargers were able to hold a comfortable double figure lead throughout the second half and shot 12-of-15 from the free throw line to Lyndon's 12-of-21 to secure a 78-64 victory.
