Strong second half propels Husson past Lyndon

LYNDON CENTER, Vt. – The Lyndon women's basketball team lost to  Husson 70-45 Friday in a North Atlantic Conference matchup at Stannard Gymnasium. At the end of the first half, Lyndon trailed by only four 27-23 despite shooting only shot 26 percent from the field.

"I did not know where our team was, there was no hustle or energy," said Head Coach Vinnie Maloney. "It was the first time that we played flat the whole entire game."
The Eagles went on a 13-0 run to start the second half to open up a 40-23 advantage. From there the Hornets were unable to recover.

Lyndon's Aimee Thompson (Barnet, Vt.) led all scorers on the night with 13 points and Mikayla Hodge (Newbury, Vt.) grabbed 12 rebounds in the loss. Emily Slayton (Morrisville, Vt.) had three assists and Hodge blocked two shots.

Victoria McIntyre and Samira Cruz both led the Eagles with 12 points and three assist each and teammate Stephanie Comstock had nine rebounds and three assists on the night. Katy Brochu had six points, six rebounds, two steals and three blocked shots for the winners.

With the loss Lyndon falls to 6-16 on the season and 5-10 in the North Atlantic Conference as Husson improves to 14-8 and 12-3 in the NAC.

Lyndon's next game will be tomorrow at 2 p.m. when they host Maine Maritime Academy.
