Cadets topple Hornets

LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — Norwich broke open close game with a 15-3 run midway through the second half and walk off with a 70-55 non-conference victory Tuesday over Lyndon.

With the win, the Cadets improve to 8-8 overall while the Hornets drop to 1-14.

Norwich jumped out to a 16-7 lead early in the contest, but Lyndon managed to make up the deficit and tie the score at 24-24 heading into intermission. Lyndon led 36-35 on an Emily Gray three-pointer with 15:18 left, but it would be the last time the Hornets would have the lead as the Cadets went on a spurt and took control of the game.

Six straight points by Heather LeBlanc and a pair of treys from Kristin Brown ended any hopes of a Hornet comeback and sent the Cadets on to the victory.

Brown led the winners with 20 points, six assists and two steals while LeBlanc chipped in a double-double with12 points and 11 boards. Aliah Curry had 16 points, three assists and two steals in the win and Kelsey Lotti had 12 points and two steals.

Erin Clark had a game-high 12 rebounds in the game

Chelsea Bagley (Wallingford, Vt.) had 12 points, seven rebounds, five assists, one steal and one blocked shot to lead Lyndon and Chelsea Watson (Eliot, Maine) had 10 points to go along with two steals. Britney Geoffrey (Derby Line, Vt.) had a team-high eight rebounds for the Hornets.
