Hornets sting Mariners

LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — Lyndon jumped out to a 21-point halftime lead Friday and coasted to a 95-64 North Atlantic Conference victory over Maine Maritime Academy. With the win the Hornets improve to 12-12 overall and 11-6 in the NAC. The loss drops the mariners to 4-19 overall and 3-14 in conference play.

Jason Gray (East Thetford, Vt.) led Lyndon with 18 points, eight rebounds and two blocked shots while fellow front-liner George Carle (Central Falls, R.I.) added 13 points, nine rebounds and two steals. Devyn Baranauskas (Waterbury, Conn.) had 15 points and three assists for the Hornets and the tandem of David Johnson (Washington, D.C.) and Patrick Dunn (Schenectady, N.Y.) chipped in 12 and 10 points respectively.

Jose Fortunato (Boston, Mass.) dished out a game-high six assists in the contest to go along with eight points and six rebounds.

Jason Hatch came off the bench to score a team-high 12 points for Maine Maritime and Nick Holt collected 10 points in a reserve role. Hatch and Logan Poirier collected a team-best six rebounds each and Poirier handed out two assists in the contest.
