Box Score LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — Colby-Sawyer converted nine of its 12 free throw attempts in overtime and walked off with a hard-fought 86-79 victory over Lyndon Saturday in North Atlantic Conference men's basketball action.
The Hornets trailed 55-39 with 11:01 left to play, but managed to chip away at the Charger lead. Trailing by three in the final seconds of the game, freshman Josh Bosworth (East Longmeadow, Mass.) managed to get a 23-footer off that found the bottom of the net as the buzzer sounded.
Both squads had ample opportunity to grab momentum early in the extra session, but Colby-Sawyer made the most of its opportunities down the stretch to capture its fourth win of the season overall and second in the NAC.
Mike Dias had 22 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots to lead the Chargers (4-4, 2-0) and teammate Wol Mong had 20 points, three assists and two rebounds. Peter Donato had 13 points and 11 rebounds for the winners while Stephen Thorpe added 13 points, four assists and two steals.
For Lyndon (2-5, 2-2), Howard Lyles (Washington, D.C.) had 24 points, seven assists, three rebounds and two steals and George Carle (Central Falls, R.I.) added 11 points and six rebounds. Rob Alers (Central Falls, R.I.) had 14 points off the bench for the Hornets and the duo of David Johnson (Washington, D.C.) and Bosworth collected 10 points and 10 rebounds, respectively.
