Box Score LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — Lyndon ran its winning streak to three matches Tuesday, with a historic 3-2 match victory over Norwich in a non-conference women's volleyball matchup at Stannard Gymnasium.
The match marked the first time the Hornets had defeated the Cadets in the brief eight-year history of the program. After winning the first set by a hard-fought score of 27-25, Lyndon dropped the next two sets by scores of 17-25 and 14-25. In the fourth set, the Hornets hammered out a 25-22 win before taking the deciding set 15-11.
Morgan Diltz (Moultonborough, N.H.) had 11 kills, 18 digs and two blocks in the victory while Joy Piper (Belmont, N.H.) added seven kills, 18 digs and five blocks. Abbey Greene (Exeter, R.I.)continued her strong play of late, chipping in seven kills to go along with two services aces and 12 digs.
Gwyneth Stahl (Whitinsville, Mass.) had 21 assists for Lyndon, who improved to 5-6 on the season.
For Norwich (2-12), Tara Lyons had an outstanding match, collecting 18 kills, two aces, 14 digs and three blocks. Teammate Angie Hershberger had 12 kills, four aces and 20 digs while Alex palmer handed out 38 assists.
